Maysville, Kentucky

"I want to be a doctor- fixing toys!" Oh you want to be a toy doctor. "Yes." "Mickey Mouse." "A bike rider." "Poverty and world hunger. It is really hard to feed a family and if you have a job- they don't think you need food stamps. But having a family is expensive. There's not many jobs around here and therer aren't childcare places and childcare is expensive. If you could all work toether as a community, maybe we could figure something out. We could work with the grocery stores to keep food prices lower and I think we could really do something. Even if you have food stamps, a lot of the time it isn't enough."

What should be today’s “Underground Railroad” movement?  “Poverty and world hunger. It is really hard to feed a family and if you have a job- they don’t think you need food stamps or support. There are not many jobs around here and there aren’t places for childcare.  All of those services are really expensive. And even if you have food stamps, a lot of the time it isn’t enough. If you could all work together as a community, maybe we could figure something out. We could work with the grocery stores to keep food prices lower and I think we could really do something. “  As for the children’s future occupations:
“I want to be a doctor.”  What kind problems do you think you’d fix? “I’d fix toys!” Oh you want to be a toy doctor. “Yes!”
“Mickey Mouse.”
“A bike rider.”
