Visitor Center & Planetarium, @ Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, Kentucky

"This is a national recreation area... it is not a national park. So it means that no matter who you are, you can come here and enjoy 170,000 acres of wilderness and pay nothing. Yes- you have to pay for gas to get here and for a picnic lunch. But once you get here- it is basically free. The best way to get people excited about nature is to get them when they are young. If you are 16 and under here in Kentucky, you can fish for free. Just bring down a pole, some worms and you give your kid the world. That first fish he catches- that's where the magic happens. You've got to show them while they are young why nature is so important to preserve. And you don't have to spend money to do it."
